There are ways to enjoy Los Angeles Clippers games. Impossible task? Not so, says the Los Angeles Times’ Chris Erskine, as he hilariously rattles off different tricks like “Adopting a Clipper” and scoping out the wide expanse of empty seats. Plus, you get way more bang for the buck than at a Lakers game.

GOOD RIDDENS

February 25, 2009 by R.C. Cola · Leave a Comment

Who is more free, Stephon Marbury or the New York Knicks? Marbury has the flexibility to move on to a time more willing to tolerate his attitude, while the Knicks are rid of his hefty contract and a black cloud in the locker room - not that he spent much time there this season anyway. It’s the end of an era of mediocrity and controversy.

MAVERICKS HAVE FAITH IN BAREA

February 25, 2009 by R.C. Cola · Leave a Comment

The Dallas Mavericks considered adding Stephon Marbury, but backed off after the improved play of their own guard, J.J. Barea. The guard has showed improved play, and owner Mark Cuban told the Dallas Morning News that he was pleased with the player. It’s not like the Mavs would’ve gotten Marbury, who is likely to head to Boston. I would consider it a blessing. Starbury is one headache they don’t need.

A PLEA TO BARKLEY FOR CHANGE

February 24, 2009 by R.C. Cola · Leave a Comment

Fox Sports’ Jason Whitlock writes a “letter” to Charles Barkley pleading him to change his boozing, gambling ways. Whitlock says Barkley can go the way of Jim Brown, a professional athlete who remains connected to the poor. Barkley has always shown a willingness to mix it up with big-picture issues. But he can also go the way of John Daly, and who wants that? This is particularly important as Barkley aspires to be something more than a TNT commentator, including aspirations for governor of Alabama.

SHAQ-LEBRON COMBO? WE CAN ONLY IMAGINE

February 24, 2009 by R.C. Cola · Leave a Comment

Hypothetical superhero team-ups are common in the comic book world. They are much rarer in the NBA world. There was, however, a slight shot as the Phoenix Suns considered trading Shaquille O’Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers. That would have teamed up the original Superman with King James, a comic book star in his own right (he actually had his own comic thanks to a short-lived promotional campaign back in 2004). Whatifsports.com runs through a simulation, and found that it only slightly improved the team’s chances of beating the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals. Shaq just doesn’t have the impact he used to, I guess.

The Los Angeles Lakers similar to the New York Yankees have golden franchises that are basically recession proof. February 20, 2009 by Andy · Leave a Comment

Just when the Phoenix Suns started to shine again with their run and gun offense, they suffer a fatal blow with an eye injury to Amare Stoudemire. Stoudemire got poked in the eye during a game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night and had surgery earlier today to repair a partially detached retina. He will miss the remaining season and will be out at least 8 weeks. Suns President Steve Kerr said the surgery was a success and believe that Stoudemire will have a healthy recovery. 76ERS FIND SUCCESS IN RUNNING AGAIN

February 20, 2009 by R.C. Cola · Leave a Comment

The Philadelphia 76ers are on a roll as of late, and it’s largely because of the return of their running game. The 76ers were a hot up-and-coming team last season able to run it up and down the court. Only thing is, they signed Elton Brand, who doesn’t really fit into the game. The team’s early struggles can be traced to its in ability to fit Brand into their game. But with the power forward out for the season, they got their groove back. But victories now may hamper their ability to make a run in the postseason or develop their team for the long term, says Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix. The run-and-gun model has worked well during the regular season, but has hardly been successful during the playoffs.

ALL-STAR BREAK GOOD FOR CAVS

February 20, 2009 by R.C. Cola · Leave a Comment

If the Cleveland Cavaliers are the second best team in the league despite injuries and an over-reliance on veterans, how good we they be after they get back up to full strength? The All-Star break came at a good time for the team, and the second half may mark the first time the full team suits up, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. That’s a scary prospect for everyone else in the NBA.
