TOP NBA GAMES: 4/13 - 4/19

April 13, 2009 by B. C.

The NBA regular season is coming to a close, but not to worry. The two-month postseason known as the NBA Playoffs is about to begin. As far as I’m concerned, any Finals series worth watching would have to include the Los Angeles Lakers. Lakers vs. Celtics, Kobe vs. LeBron, even Dwight Howard vs. Andrew Bynum. Los Angeles - the only place where amazing will happen.

New Orleans Hornets at Houston Rockets
This game could have major seeding implications for both teams. There is still the possibility that they’ll meet in the first round of the playoffs in what would be a very closely contested series. Each team has a clear advantage in at least one position - Chris Paul at point for the Hornets; Yao Ming in the middle for the Rockets. The winner of this game could carry the momentum all the way to the playoffs.

Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Lakers
Another potential first-round playoff series. Is there any team in the league that can challenge the Lakers now that Andrew Bynum is back in the starting lineup and Lamar Odom is anchoring the bench squad? On the other side, Utah desperately needs a win here, as they have the worst road record among all Western Conference playoff teams. A win at Staples Center would be huge after their embarrassing 29-point loss in Dallas last week.

Oklahoma City Thunder at Los Angeles Clippers
This game may have just as much importance as other games - but more for lottery implications than playoff positions. Both teams are among the bottom five in the league, and the Clippers have a legitimate shot at overtaking the Sacramento Kings for the worst record in the league. Blake Griffin is a nice player, but is he worth taking a dive just for a few more ping pong balls come lottery time?
