BIGGEST BALLS IN THE NBA
June 30, 2009 by Andy
NBA athletes are at peak physical condition but what separates the standout players from the regular ones is the willingness to sacrifice their bodies for the good of the team. It takes a level of willingness and chutzpah to do what other players are afraid to do. Here’s a look at the NBA players with the biggest kahunas.

IRON MAN: Kobe Bryant played two full seasons, led the Los Angeles Lakers in the playoffs, and the Olympics — all with a broken pinky finger. He led the Lakers to their 15th championship and was named 2009 FInals MVP. He is the ultimate closer in the game today. In addition, he is the hardest working player in the NBA with recognition from his peers of his skill and toughness. Bryant doesn’t need to be the next Michael Jordan. He is playing the game it was meant to be played and is this generation’s basketball icon.
RECKLESS ABANDON: Allen Iverson is the smallest player on the court with the biggest heart. He plays with reckless abandon driving to the basket against defenders twice his size and sacrificing his body to score buckets. His killer crossover and speed along with his scoring prowess make him a dangerous player against any team. It’s unclear how much more of a beating he can take in the painted area but his play is inspiring to all the smaller basketball players out there.
CHARGING GENIUS: Derek Fisher is the ultimate role player and does whatever it takes to help his team win. Whether it is hitting a big three or taking a charge, he will do it without thinking twice. He is proficient at drawing charges against the other team and lets his body take a beating. He may not be as quick anymore but he will always be reliable in the clutch.
PAINTED AREA MONSTER: Dwight Howard is a freak of nature. He looks like he was built in a government experiment in creating the next perfect soldier. His physical make-up shows the relentless hours he has spent in the gym. This superhuman anchors the Orlando Magic on defense striking fear into the opposing team. Howard has no fear against any players and will embarass you with his devastating dunks.
PASSING LANE STOPPER: Trevor Ariza is a blue collared worker willing to guard the best player on the opposing team. He is not afraid to be embarassed on the court and evolved into the Lakers go-to defensive stopper during the 2009 playoffs. He helped shut down Orlando Magic’s go-to scorer Hedo Turkoglu in the FInals and made a number of key defensive steals throughout the playoffs. His defensive court vision and ability to play the passing lanes make him the newest Bruce Bowen. The torch has been passed.
STATISTICAL DEVOURER: The No-Stats All Star Shane Battier doesn’t put up numbers that can be seen in the box score. He gobbles up statistics from the Rockets team of analysts to help him with his defense against the NBA’s best players. He utilizes his brain instead of focusing on his physical skills to help him shut down players. Players looking to improve their defense need not look further than to analyze all the little things Battier does on the defensive end. He plays great fundamental defense funneling players off their sweet spots and making them uncomfortable by putting a hand in their faces to block their vision on shots.

WORST ARTICLE EVER… what is this? The definition of “biggest balls” means effort? Half of the list doesn’t belong here.
If AI gets props for being undersized and constantly taking it to the rim (which by the way he does WAY less now that he’s older… do you even watch basketball?) then how do you leave out dwyane wade and gerald wallace, who take it to the hoop WAY harder than AI.
No way LeBron doesn’t make this list when D-Howard does. LeBron dominates physically in every aspect of the game whereas D-Ho only does this once every five to ten games when he faces puny opposition at center.
