The Dallas Mavericks are making multiple roster moves to put themselves among the elite NBA teams by re-signing Jason Kidd and making a trade for Shawn Marion. The Mavs showed some toughness and resolve this year when they won 50 games and made it to the second round of the playoffs before falling to a scrappy Denver Nuggets squad. Amare Stoudemire is the hot name on the block now, with a number of teams expressing interest in the Phoenix Suns. Who can blame them? He’s a 26-year-old four-time All-Star with the uncanny ability to get to the hoop. But buyers beware, warns Sports Illustrated’s Steve Aschburner, as he comes with his own set of deficiencies as well. Stoudemire is a below-average rebounder, particularly for a guy his size, and his defense is severely lacking. In Phoenix, he’s covered veterans like Steve Nash, Shaquille O’Neal and Grant Hill. He may not be so lucky elsewhere.
