The ’90s were dominated by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. During Jordan’s reign of terror, countless future Hall of Famers had their chances to win a championship ring foiled. Only during Jordan’s brief retirement did Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets win two titles. Among the greats that had their hearts broken by Jordan were Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller and Karl Malone. Read more
NBA ROUNDUP: 6/20 - 6/26
It’s been a whirlwind week with multiple teams making drastic moves to catch up to the Los Angeles Lakers. The dream match-up in the Finals with Kobe Bryant playing against LeBron James and former teammate Shaquille O’Neal may become a reality come next season. It’s been a busy draft day and it seems the teams that benefited the most so far has been the Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs and Orlando Magic. Expect more drastic moves this summer. BEWARE OF AMARE

Amare Stoudemire is the hot name on the block now, with a number of teams expressing interest in the Phoenix Suns. Who can blame them? He’s a 26-year-old four-time All-Star with the uncanny ability to get to the hoop. But buyers beware, warns Sports Illustrated’s Steve Aschburner, as he comes with his own set of deficiencies as well. Stoudemire is a below-average rebounder, particularly for a guy his size, and his defense is severely lacking. In Phoenix, he’s covered veterans like Steve Nash, Shaquille O’Neal and Grant Hill. He may not be so lucky elsewhere.
SUNS SETTING AS WE KNEW THEM

It’s not a good time to be a Phoenix Suns fan right now. The once run-and-gun rapid-fire offense has chugged to a halt, most effectively illustrated by its latest three-game slide before rebounding and winning two in a row. “I think we were splintering,” Steve Nash tells Yahoo Sports. Adrian Wojnarowski wonders if this is the end of the Suns as we know it. Nash is getting older, as is Shaquille O’Neal. Although his resurgence may ultimately hurt the team, because of the lack of touches and slower developer for younger Amare Stoudamire. He notes Stoudamire has been invisible on the floor at times.
