LAKERS THE BIG WINNER AFTER TRADE DEADLINE

You know the trade activity was slow this season when the Los Angeles Lakers’ dumping of Chris Mihm’s contract was considered the highlight of the trade deadline on Thursday. Yahoo Sports’ Johnny Ludden says the Lakers were able to shave off $2 million in luxury taxes. But it wasn’t what the Lakers did, but what rival teams didn’t do. No major trades occurred, and the few that did were designed to save money. As a result, the Lakers are still looking pretty in the West.
